We live such busy lives. Not just those of us that are moms, but just in general, we tend to live a rushed life. Running to and from work, picking up kids, running to practice, basketball, soccer, and dance. Almost on a daily basis I find myself rushing from work, rushing to make dinner, rushing to clean.  We constantly are looking for the next thing to do. Most times when I bump into someone and they ask me how I’ve been, it goes a little something like this: “Oh, you know, just super busy with the kids and work and school, like always”. Sound familiar to anyone?

Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with being busy. It’s great that our kids are in sports and that we go home and cook for our families. God delights in all those things, but the moment we are not busy, we start feeling like something is wrong. Are we too busy that we are not even aware of what God is trying to do around us?

Many times I’ve found myself frustrated because I feel like I’m not getting answers from God. I’m praying and I’m asking, and I’m doing; and still, nothing.

As God has been drastically working in my life He has been teaching me and allowing me to see things that I used to be so blinded to.

God is speaking to me. Always. I’m just not listening.

God is always up to something, but we fail to see it because we are so BUSY.

I’m always rushing, and going, and doing… at the end of the day I’m so exhausted. Sometimes God is trying to speak to us; even through the stranger who is handing back your change at the grocery store. Yet, we are so busy on our phone, or thinking about what we’re gonna cook for dinner, that we don’t even notice her black eye.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve cried out to God saying “God, use me! I’m willing for you to use me in whatever way!” Yet, he tries to use me and I’m not even paying attention.

People all around us are hurting…and we don’t even notice. There are people who are broken and hurt and without God and we are so busy going to church that we are forgetting to be the church.

So let’s notice things. Let’s notice needs. Let’s notice people. And let’s be Jesus to those people.

Be Jesus to the lady with the screaming toddler who is overwhelmed

let’s be Jesus to that single parent who is struggling

let’s be Jesus to the cashier at the grocery store,

let’s be Jesus to the person that cuts us off in traffic

let’s be Jesus to the coworker who doesn’t like us

let’s be Jesus to the husband/wife who drives you nuts

We don’t need a microphone, or an out of this world talent or platform to serve God. We must simply be aware and be obedient.

God shows up.

Are you paying attention?

“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’”- Matthew 25: 35-40
